Certifications: Mr. Watts is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
(USPTO), is a member of the Arizona Bar in good standing, and is a member of the Intellectual
Property Section of the Arizona Bar Association.
Engineering Registration and Affiliations: Mr. Watts has been a registered
Professional Engineer in Arizona in mechanical engineering since 1995 and served as chairman of
the Arizona/Nevada Section of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in 2005 and 2006. Mr.
Watts first joined SAE as a student in 1983 and is still a regularly-attending active member.
Volunteer Work: Mr. Watts has served as a volunteer Venture
Ready Panelist with the Arizona Commerce Authority since 2013 where he coaches and advises
technology innovators and start-up businesses, primarily in intellectual property protection,
patent portfolio development, and IP strategy. Mr. Watts is a former foster parent, foreign
exchange student host, and volunteer mediator in the South Phoenix Justice Court, and has done
pro bono work for many organizations including Charity: Water, an organization that provides
drinking water wells for remote villages in third world countries, and for Arizona Mountaineering
Club for access preservation.
Hobbies: Mr. Watts enjoys whitewater kayaking and rafting,
mountain biking, rock climbing, canyoneering, and hiking. He also enjoys tinkering with
automobiles and bicycles and home-improvement projects.
